iPhone 5 Swipe Glitch Discovered

Sumit Passary

Since the release of the iPhone 5 in September this year, users have reported many issues related to the smartphone. The purple flare issue with the camera, scratches on the smartphone, and now the latest issue circling the iPhone 5 relates to a swipe glitch that  a developer has discovered.

Several occasions may exist when a user will want to swipe the touchscreen of the iPhone 5 to complete a quick action, but the device is slow or unresponsive.

Game developer CMA Megacorp addressed the issue in a Twitter feed which read "iPhone 5 touch screen bug? Slide finger back and forth diagonally on screen, input events drop out or stop altogether."

Furthermore, Recombu.com posted a video which should the slow responsiveness of the iPhone 5.

Recombu.com reports that it tested two iPhone 4S' one running on iOS 6.0 and one running iOS 6.0.1 with two iPhone 5's, one running iOS 6.0 and the other 6.0.1.

"Using the Mail app to clearly demonstrate the quick scrolling action, we dragged our finger back and forth diagonally from bottom right to top left on each phone's display. Sure enough, whilst both iPhone 4S's handled the fast paced scrolling to aplomb, one iPhone 5 struggled to hold its concentration, dropping and picking back up touch input whilst the other stopped registering input altogether," reported the Web site.

Recombu.com further added that the glitch is not present on iPhone 4S but is seen only on iPhone 5, which means that the issue is not with iOS 6 but with iPhone 5.

Many iPhone 5 users who do not swipe the touchscreen rapidly may not question the swipe issue pertaining to the iPhone smartphone. However, for gamers and game developers the swipe glitch with the smartphone may be worrying as gamers will not have a flawless gaming experience.

The swipe issue may cause some concerns to Apple, which has already faced recent issues with its Apple Maps and Bluetooth on iOS 6.

Time will tell if Apple addresses the swipe glitch on the iPhone 5 in the near future or takes the apology route like it did with the Maps.
