Even as the Google Nexus 4 smartphone geared to go on sale on Tuesday, Nov. 13, the first accessory has already reached the Play Store.

The 4.7-inch quad-core Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Nexus 4 is the first Nexus device to sport glass on both sides. Needless to mention, traditional cases that cover the rear of the handset would spoil that sleek glass engineering.

Google, however, has come up with a solution to protect the handset without ruining the design: a cool new bumper case has just popped up on the Google Play Store, promising to protect the $300+ smartphone for an extra $20.

The Nexus 4 bumper case has made its way to the Play Store on Monday, Nov.12 - the day before the handset itself goes on sale - and is listed as coming soon. On the other hand, Google offers virtually no details about the official Nexus 4 bumper case, or what it's made of.

The only thing mentioned is that the bumper case is black and is practically weightless. It keeps the same two-tone design element as the smartphone, and may be available in additional colors later on.

As previously mentioned, the bumper case is the first Nexus 4 accessory to hit the Google Play store, but more gadgets are expected to be available soon, including some official desk or car docks. Google, however, has not confirmed the arrival of additional accessories.

The case appears to be elegant enough and fit in quite well with the design of the Nexus 4. The nifty-looking accessory promises to make the Nexus 4 handset more resistant to damages caused by accidental drops and bumps. Like any case, the Nexus 4 bumper case does not bring anything spectacular, no amazing design or even bright, cheerful colors, but a $20 accessory may be worth considering if it can protect the smartphone.

Customers planning on ordering the new Google Nexus 4 smartphone made by LG will notice the bumper case listed along with the handset, and can place an order with the Google Play Store to receive the accessory "soon." Check it out on the Google Play store.
