Canadian users of the Galaxy S3 will welcome the announcement from Samsung that it will start pushing out the eagerly awaited Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to the device's users in December itself.
On Tuesday, Nov. 27, Samsung Canada announced via its Twitter account that the over-the-air (OTA) software update would start rolling out from Monday, Dec. 3.
"Jelly Bean starts rolling out to GALAXY S III owners over-the-air Monday. Stay tuned for more Jelly Bean announcements soon!" tweeted Samsung Mobile Canada.
Earlier in October, Samsung Canada took to its Twitter account to announce that owners of the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S3 smartphones would receive the official upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS sometime "before the holidays!"
"Exciting news for Note and S III owners! You can expect Jelly Bean to arrive before the holidays!" noted the tweet.
With the date of the OS update roll out confirmed, Samsung has stuck to its promise and Galaxy S3 users in Canada would soon get to experience the new features the Jelly Bean will bring. Samsung has already released the update in Europe and in the U.S. (Sprint and T-Mobile). However, AT&T and Verizon are yet to push out the update for their Galaxy S3 owners.
Samsung Canada has not divulged which carrier would be the first in line and start pushing out the OTA software update. The Galaxy S3 is available on most major Canadian carriers like Rogers, TELUS, Bell, SaskTel, WIND, Virgin etc.
The company has also not let on when the Galaxy Note would be receiving the update either. However, with Samsung asking users to "stay tuned" for further Jelly Bean-related announcements, a strong possibility exist that the updates for the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S2 are on the cards and will be made official shortly.
With the best-selling Galaxy S3 smartphone set to receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update in Canada, come December, the device's users will be able to experience new features like Google Now, new notifications bar, smoother performance, sizable Pop-up play screen, and more.
