Retail giant Walmart slipped up majorly when it put up the image of a device that resembled the Nokia Lumia 920, and labeled it as the Galaxy S3 smartphone in red.
The supposed red Samsung smartphone with the Nokia brand and WP8 OS made a brief appearance on the retailer's site on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Walmart must have noticed the faux pas soon after as it has now pulled down the page.
"The retailer is currently selling a "Samsung Galaxy S III 920 Smartphone, Red" next to a picture of a Lumia 920 running Windows Phone. The specs listed say it's running Android 4.0 and comes loaded with Google Play," reported Android Police.
"The Samsung Galaxy S III 920 smartphone looks A LOT like the Nokia Lumia 920, which is of course a Samsung trademark, up to including the user interface, but of course runs Android 4.0 with a 4.8 inch SuperAMOLED screen," noted WMPoweruser.
The listed Galaxy S3 920's spec sheet may have been pulled down by Walmart, but the folks at Reddit managed to snag a screen garb which can be viewed here.
It's possible that the listing was a genuine mistake on Walmart's part or could well be a prank. The good thing is that the one of a kind Samsung-Nokia smartphone hybrid, courtesy Walmart, was listed as only "sold in limited stores" and, therefore, no one accidentally bought the device online.
Luckily enough, Walmart noticed the error and removed the listing before further damage could be done. How such a lapse in security and negligence occurred remains a mystery.
