AT&T To Start Selling HTC One VX From Dec. 7

Sumit Passary

AT&T previously announced that the HTC One VX will start shipping from mid-November, but now per reports, the carrier plans to release the handset in early December.

The mid-level Android HTC One VX was expected to hit shelves on Nov. 16 along with HTC One X+ but the former has not made its appearance yet.

"The details surrounding the absence of the One VX still aren't entirely clear. But an AT&T spokesperson today told us the carrier expects to be fully stocked in all channels by Dec. 7," per Android Central.

HTC One VX, which is exclusive to AT&T, features a 4.5-inch qHD screen with 960 x 540 pixels resolution at 245 ppi. The screen is protected with scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass which aids in durability and reduces light reflection.

A dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.5GHz powers the smartphone. The device runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and has 8GB on-board storage with the option to expand to a further 32GB using a microSD card. An 1800mAh battery powers the HTC One VX, but the talk-time and standby time for the device is not known.

The HTC One VX measures 5.26 x 2.66 x 0.36 inches and weighs 4.37 ounces. The HTC One VX features a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with HTC Sense and also includes a 1080p HD video recorder. The device also includes a front-facing VGA camera. The HTC One VX is NFC-ready for the seamless, wireless sharing of playlists, Web sites, contacts, and more with other NFC-enabled devices.

The One VX also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Near-Field Communication (NFC) capabilities. The device also includes Beats Audio for studio-quality sound experience.

The HTC One VX is expected to be priced at $49.99 on a two-year contract, and at this price point the handset may appeal to customer looking for a new smartphone during the holiday season.

Even though AT&T has made no official announcement regarding the Dec. 7 release date, it will be interesting to see if the One VX can make an impression in the smartphone market during holiday season.
