The competition in the smartphone market is increasing rapidly with many manufacturers offering an array of handset to consumers. Beidou, an e-commerce group in China is expected to launch its 5-inch smartphone in December this year at an extremely competitive price.
Buyers are spoilt for choice as the consumer market is inundated with a slew of smartphones on offer. Consumers can select a smartphone from a plethora of brands, and opt for a device that has features and hardware specifications to suit their requirements and pocket. Even lesser known brands that do not have an established global presence are able to sell their devices via the Internet.
One such brand is Beidou, based in China, which is making new smartphones at unbeatable prices. The company's latest smartphone dubbed the 'Beidou Chi' is expected to hit the Chinese smartphone market on Dec. 4 and will be sold in the local market for 799 Yuan ($103).
Earlier in 2012, Beidou had come up with a smartphone called Little Pepper and recently a quad-core 3 handset in partnership with ZTE that was priced at $128.
"In the initial stage, the company will pit 100,000 units for the customers residing in China. The smartphone which comes with respectable features and interesting price will have a huge demand and also be sold in the market like hot cakes," reported Techulator.
The latest Beidou Chi will sport a 5.0-inch IPS capacitive touch screen with 854 x 480 pixels resolution. A 1.0 Ghz Cortex A 9 dual core processor will power the smartphone. The phone runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS).
The Beiduo Chi will have 8GB of internal memory and 512MB of RAM. The smartphone will be equipped with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera.
The smartphone also supports dual-SIM and has Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth 3.0, gravity, distance, and magnetic sensors. A 2000mAh battery will fuel the smartphone, which measures 5.78 x 3.01 x 0.38 inches and weighs 4.12 ounces.
The Beidou Chi is available in black and it is not known if the smartphone will be officially launched outside China.
Even though the smartphone is expected to make its debut in China on Dec. 4, the handset has already been spotted on the Internet with an online retailer (uredeal) for $186.99.
