Google recently unleashed a slew of Nexus devices which have been creating waves in the consumer market post launch. The devices are such a success that consumers are having a tough time laying hands on the must-have gadgets for this holiday season.
We give you a run down on where you can pick up the Android 4.2-powered Nexus 4, smartphone in the U.S., Canada, and the UK this holiday season.
U.S.
Google's LG made Nexus 4 smartphone is currently the hottest thing around. The smartphone has met with unprecedented demand and sales success since its Nov. 13 release, so much so that the device was sold out within an hour of going on sale in the Google Play store in both the U.S. and the UK.
The demand for the Nexus 4 was so overwhelming that it was on backorder. Consequently, Google had to waive off the shipping fee and sent out e-mails to customers notifying them that "due to the overwhelming demand" the Nexus 4 was on backorder and was "expected to ship within three weeks."
Currently, the Nexus 4 is still on backorder and will not be available for a month at the very least. The Google Play Store shows a "ship by" time of nine to ten weeks and six to seven weeks for the 8GB ($299) and 16GB ($349) variants, respectively.
Alternately, the Nexus 4 can also be purchased via T-Mobile in the U.S. for $199.99 on a two-year contract. However, the carrier too has run out of stock online.
The one place where the smartphone seems to be readily available is on eBay with several sellers offering the Nexus 4 at a premium, with prices ranging from $335 to $585 for both the versions.
Canada
Potential buyers in Canada need not fret either as they can place an order for the 8GB version of the device on Expanys; however, the retailer is yet to announce the price and disclaims "If you place a pre-order for this product now, we will not ship the product or charge your credit card without confirming you still wish to proceed when stock arrives. There are no cancellation charges."
UK
Consumers in the UK would welcome the news that from Dec. 13, Three will be offering the Nexus 4 for £35 (around $56) per month (on contract), with an upfront payment of a £29 (approx. $46) on Three's One Plan. Alternately, buyers can also opt for the PAYG or pay-as-you-go deal, whereby the Nexus 4 will cost them £399.99 (around $634) when bought with a £15 top-up.
Interested buyers can also purchase the Nexus 4 from Carphone Warehouse on monthly plans that start at £26 and offer the phone for free. The SIM-free version will cost £389.50 (16GB), which is more expensive than the Google Play store price of £279.
UK carrier O2 is also offering the Nexus 4 for £399 on Pay & Go.
With the demand for the black version of the Nexus 4 growing increasingly, hopefully Google will be able to restock its inventory soon so that consumers don't have to dole out extra dough to purchase the smartphone. What's more, with the alleged white variant of the Nexus 4 on the cards, consumers will soon have another option as well.
