Nexus 4 Stock Alert App: Notifies You When The Smartphone Is Available

Anu Passary

The Nexus 4 has been flying off the shelves since its mid-November release, and with the device on backorder consumers have been finding it difficult to lay their hands on the smartphone. If you're tired of revisiting the Google Play Store to check  if the Nexus 4 is back in stock, we have the perfect solution to your problem - the Nexus 4 Stock Alert app.

The Nexus 4 Stock Alert app, as the name suggests, notifies Android phone users when the Nexus 4 is back in stock on the Google Play Store.

"Don't miss your next Nexus 4 ordering opportunity! Get the alert on your device. Get an immediate notification when the Google Nexus 4 will be back in stock!" notes the app description on the Google Play Store.

With the alerts being automatic, users need not refresh their browser any longer in hopes of learning that the Nexus 4 is available for purchase. Such an app is helpful as Google releases the stock in countries like the UK and Germany sporadically, usually without any advance notice of the restocking. With the Nexus 4 Stock Alert app installed on their Android phone, users will no longer need to constantly visit the Google Play Store in hopes of finally getting their hands on the elusive Nexus 4.

The Nexus 4 Stock Alert app is free to download and is currently available only for Android handsets. However, the app uses nearly 150MB per month thanks to the frequent checks, so make sure you keep this factor in mind prior to downloading. The app can also be used to check for Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 device stocks.

The set-up is pretty easy and once you have installed the app, simply select the model you want to keep a watch on and how frequently the check should be performed. Leave the app running in the background and once your specified model is back in stock, the app will send an alert to notify you of the availability.

However, the app may not be able to perform the check if your phone is in the sleep mode.

"The logic this app uses scans the Nexus product page and that is how I got my Nexus 4 on November 13th. It has also been verified with other Nexus products and international play store pages. HOWEVER, IF GOOGLE MODIFIES THEIR PRODUCT PAGE IN AN UNEXPECTED WAY - THE LOGIC MIGHT NOT WORK. Due to the huge demand for the app and the traffic it causes on their website, please be aware! (if such modification will appear - I will update the logic as soon as possible)," disclaimed the app developer.

The app will default to a user's local Google Play Store and check the stock in that region. To illustrate, if you're in the UK it will check the British site and if in Germany the app will check the German store.

The Nexus 4 Stock Alert app can be downloaded for free here from the Google Play Store.

Did the app work for you? Were you finally able to order the Nexus 4 smartphone?
