It hasn’t been long since the Butterfly first fluttered its way to HTC’s global Web site. At that time it was believed that the smartphone could be the global variant of the Droid DNA or the J Butterfly. However, new reports state that the smartphone is now finally available for pre-order.

Recently, online retailer Expansys put up the HTC Butterfly for pre-order. Interested buyers who are accessing the HTC UK page or another European version (any regional Web site except in America) will be able to find the HTC Butterfly up for pre-order.

Although the device's price hasn't been confirmed as of yet, the retailer states: “If you place a pre-order for this product now, we will not ship the product or charge your credit card without confirming you still wish to proceed when stock arrives. There are no cancellation charges.”

“Too bad this is all that is known as at press time, since there has been no other mention concerning pricing and availability. Apart from that, it remains to be seen whether the pre-order in regions outside of Europe would mean you would be getting an imported model or not,” a Ubergizmo report states. “So far, the hardware specifications on the HTC Butterfly do seem to match those which have been published by HTC on its website, where among them include the radio frequency bands and a microSD memory card slot.”

Unfortunately, neither the pricing nor the date of release has been specified on the page. Moreover, it's not even certain if the smartphone is a European model or an import. Also the date of availability is unknown.

Thanks to HTC’s official page, the device's specifications are known - the HTC Butterfly will arrive with a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels resolution) Super LCD 3 display with Gorilla Glass 2, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 SoC with a quad-core 1.5GHz Krait CPU, and Adreno 320 GPU.

The HTC Butterfly will also boast 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal memory (with a microSD card slot), 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording, 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS + GLONASS, NFC, 2,020mAh battery, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
