ATIV S, the first-ever Windows Phone 8 smartphone has finally gone on sale in Canada and is available via carriers TELUS, Bell, and Rogers and is retailing for as little as $29.99 depending on the contract terms. What's more, the ATIV S is also set to finally hit the UK in time for Christmas and will ship from Dec. 17, per Clove UK.
Earlier this week, leaked internal documents from carriers Bell and TELUS revealed that the ATIV S would finally hit the Canadian shelves on Dec. 14. The ATIV S can be ordered online from either Rogers, TELUS, or Bell. However, per reports, the stock is limited and may run out quickly. Moreover, the device may not be up for grabs at retail stores.
TELUS is offering the ATIV S for $29.99 on a three-year contract. A contract free ATIV S will set users back by $650. Bell too is offering the ATIV S on a three-year contract, but at $99.99 its version is more expensive than TELUS. However, the without contract ATIV S is available for $599.95, making it a better bargain than the one from TELUS.
Alternately, consumers can also pick up the ATIV S from Rogers for $79.99 on a three-year contract or $599.99 without a contract.
The ATIV S' release has met with delays with the smartphone's release date being constantly pushed back. Recently, the ATIV S released on T-Mobile in Austria; however, the much-awaited WP8 smartphone from Samsung, in partnership with Microsoft, is yet to release in other European countries.
Reports have indicated that even though the ATIV S was up for pre-order in the UK, its release could be delayed to Feb. 2013. However, now, online retailer Clove UK's site shows that the ATIV S is "now in stock - Shipping Monday." Previously, the retailer had noted "First stock delayed until week commencing December 10th."
Even Phones4U shows that if consumers place an order now the ATIV S will be delivered on Dec. 21, in time for Christmas.
"Order today for delivery on 21/12," notes Phones4U.
With the ATIV S finally set to release in the UK after unwarranted delays, consumers will soon have another WP8 device to pick from.
