LG has confirmed its plans to launch seven new Google TV models at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013, building on the success of its Smart TVs.
The new models will include 42-, 57-, 50-, 55-, and 60-inch sets from the upcoming GA6400 series, as well as 47- and 55-inch Cinema Screen panels featured in the new GA7900 series.
All models will ship with a redesigned Magic QWERTY Remote, which uses a full keyboard as well as "natural language recognition" thanks to a built-in microphone.
"Google's latest platform and LG's redesigned Magic Remote Qwerty work together to enhance the effectiveness of Voice Search and the PrimeTime quick guide," LG said in a Dec. 24 press release. "The updated Smart Home also adds to the user experience by offering convenient, streamlined access to VoD, YouTube and more apps. Discovering exciting new content from the rich pool of choices available on LG Google TV has never been easier. Additionally, the premium model will incorporate LG's advanced CINEMA SCREEN design for an undeniably sleek and modern finish."
Other features include the OnLive gaming platform, a home dashboard for displaying other apps and content, and a full browser, in addition to LG's PrimeTime Quick Guide. The company offered no details on pricing or availability so far, but it will likely offer more information at CES 2013.
"LG is committed to providing diverse home entertainment options that offer the most satisfying user experience and the latest LG Smart TVs with Google TV to do just that," added Havis Kwon, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. "They deliver a stellar user experience by merging the latest Google TV platform with LG's proven Smart TV technology. The result is a comprehensive system that is groundbreaking in its simplicity."
LG is also touting "Google TV 3.0" for its new sets, but without additional details it's hard to tell what features will be included. So far, voice search seems to be one of the top selling points. The company is remaining mum ahead of the big unveiling in Las Vegas, but it did mention a release sometime in the first half of 2013.
