Rumors of the next Sony flagship smartphone have been swirling for a while now and it may be named Yuga or Odin. Recent news, however, suggest that Odin, which is set for 2013 launch, may also be called Xperia X, while Yuga may be called Xperia Z.

Both the Yuga (Xperia Z) and Odin (Xperia X) features identical specifications. Sony may release both the handsets as flagship smartphones and make them available in different parts of the world.

They both sport 5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. A 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with 2GB of RAM power both the devices. Both the devices are allegedly equipped with a 13-megapixel Exmor Camera sensor and will have the capacity to record 1080p HDR videos.

The smartphones are also said to be water and dust resistant and will pack in a 2400mAh battery, 32GB of on-board storage, and a microSD card support.

"Okay got to see some info. The Odin is slightly smaller dimensions but barely. Same CPU. s4 Pro quad core 1.5ghz 2gb ram. Both will have exmor camera sensor and do 1080p hdr video. Only real difference I could see was the battery elements resistance of the yuga and the yuga has something called digital touch that wasn't listed for the odin. Not sure what that is. Yuga will be the flagship. These phones look amazing. So looking forward to them. Yuga is calling my name. Kinda interesting though how similar these two devices are," a user commented on XDA-developers.

It seems that the specifications of the devices are all but official. So smartphone enthusiasts will hope to hear an official announcement from Sony soon. The CES 2013 is round the corner and it may not be long before Sony takes the wraps off of its next flagship smartphone.

Yuga, Odin, Xperia X, or Xperia Z - these names don't matter so long the handset becomes successful in appealing to smartphone enthusiasts.
