Speculations surrounding Huawei's 6.1-inch Ascend Mate smartphone have been spreading like wildfire, and yet again a few more pictures of the massive smartphone have been leaked, which show off a curved back, thin side bezels, and more.
The Chinese smartphone maker Huawei seems to be on track to give direct competition to Samsung's 5.5-inch Galaxy Note 2. The company confirmed that the 6.1-inch Ascend Mate is in existence and Richard Yu, Hauwei's chairman of devices, even flaunted the smartphone at one of its stores in China.
The latest pictures posted by Chinese Web site MyDrivers show the massive 6.1-inch Ascend Mate alongside another smartphone. The pictures show the on-screen apps on the device, thin side bezels, the curved back, the bottom with the charging port, and the top with an audio port and probably a SIM slot.
The curved back of the device will make it a little easier to hold in the hand. The thickness of the smartphone is supposedly just 9.9mm (0.38-inch).
The specifications of the Ascend Mate are still not known but rumors suggest that a quad-core 1.8GHz processor will power the smartphone. The device is expected to be equipped with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a massive 4000mAh battery. The device is also alleged to have 2GB of RAM. Users will hope that Ascend Mate will run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and is Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC capable.
The size of Ascend Mate will enable users to use the smartphone as an on-the-go entertainment device. As such, a big memory, probably 32/64GB along with the option to expand using a microSD card would be anticipated by smartphone enthusiasts.
The Ascend Mate is speculated to make its official debut at the upcoming CES 2013 event where Huawei should release more information about the device and also release plans of the handset.
What other features and specifications do you think that Ascend Mate should embrace?
