Samsung launched the Galaxy S3 Mini, the smaller, more affordable version of it popular Galaxy S3 smartphone, in November this year. Now, per reports, the Galaxy S3 Mini has been released in Asia with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean in tow.
However, the Galaxy S3 Mini with Android 4.1.2 is currently retailing only in two Asian countries, namely Indonesia and Vietnam.
"Samsung started selling the Galaxy S III mini in Asia with Android 4.1.2 pre-installed. Where the first Galaxy S III mini devices are still running Android 4.1.1 the Asian variants are running Android 4.1.2," reported SamMobile.
Samsung's Galaxy S3 Mini was first launched in the UK and although Samsung did not officially release the smartphone in the U.S., the unlocked version of the device popped up on Amazon.
The Galaxy S3 Mini features a 4-inch Super AMOLED display with 800 × 480 pixels resolution and 223 pixels per inch (ppi). A 1GHz dual-core processor fuels the smartphone, which measures 4.8 x 2.48 x 0.39 inches and weighs 4.23 ounces.
The smartphone has 8/16GB of on-board memory with the option to expand to an additional 32GB via a microSD card. It packs in a 1500mAh battery, which offers up to 7 hours 10 minutes of talk time on 3G.
The Galaxy S3 Mini sports a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a VGA front-facing camera. It also offers support for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC.
In Asia, the smartphone will come pre-loaded with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean vis-à-vis Android 4.1.1 in other regions. Samsung is expected to roll out the Android 4.1.2 for the current Galaxy S3 Mini in January 2013.
The smartphone will be available in two colors - blue and white - and will be priced around 400 euros.
