The consumer market is flooded with third-party accessories for the iPad that can turn the Apple tablet into an easy-to-use laptop, courtesy an external keyboard. The Ultrathin Keyboard Cover from Logitech is one such accessory, which doubles up as a sturdy aluminum screen cover, complements the iPad's design aesthetics and turns into a full-fledged Bluetooth keyboard when flipped over.

As the name suggests, the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover for the iPad is super slim and is perfect for on-the-go use.

"How do you make the perfect iPad even more perfect? Protect it in style-with a superthin screen cover for wherever you go. Add a Bluetooth® wireless keyboard-and you're always ready to type with precision. A stylish, ultrathin aluminium screen cover that feels great and looks even better-designed to complement your iPad. In fact, it fits your tablet so seamlessly that you can hardly tell them apart," asserts Logitech.

The Ultrathin Keyboard Cover measures 7.47 x 9.50 x 0.39 inches. However, weighing at 355gms (0.78 pounds), the keyboard cover is not exactly feather light.

The keyboard has a row of function key on the top, and offers support for actions like Spotlight Search and music volume control directly from the keyboard, which usually can be accessed only by navigating the multitasking menu or settings. It attaches easily to the iPad "thanks to the clever magnetic clip" and opens and closes like a laptop.

Once attached to the keyboard dock, the iPad also provides an ideal viewing angle and does not require much adjustment. What's more, the keyboard can be paired easily to the iPad.

Logitech has chosen to thicken the case slightly which aids smooth keyboard functionality. Typing on the Bluetooth wireless keyboard is smooth and noiseless, making writing e-mails or even sending instant messages a seamless experience. The Bluetooth range is up to 10 meters.

"The external keyboard not only frees up screen space on your iPad, it also allows you to work faster by using shortcuts for the commands you use most often, such as copy, paste, undo and many more. Plus, you get a 6-month battery life on a full charge," notes Logitech.

The keyboard usually lasts for nearly two weeks on a single charge, provided the usage is moderate and the device is switched off when not in use. The keyboard can be charged via the microUSB cord that comes with the case.

The Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover is the perfect accessory for users who are looking for an alternative to the built-in touchscreen keyboard on the iPad. it is available in three colors - red, white, and black - and is compatible with iPad 2, iPad 3, and iPad 4. The Ultrathin Keyboard Cover is priced at $99.99 and can be purchased from Logitech's Web site.
