The Nexus 4 has been flying off the shelves since its mid-November release with Google struggling to keep up with the high demand for the smartphone. In early December, an app called "Nexus 4 Stock Alert" was released to alert potential buyers when the smartphone became available and now, another app called the "Nexus Availability Checker" has been released to serve the same purpose.
The 8GB and 16GB version of the Nexus 4 are both listed as 'sold out' on the Google Play Store with no option to order. Consumers may find continuous visits to the Google Play Store to check the availability of the Nexus 4 a tad annoying. Unfortunately, no signing up for e-mail stock notifications from Google is available either.
If you are looking to buy the Nexus 4 and want to know when the stock is available for sale then check out the below apps.
The first app is the 'Nexus Availability Checker' by Julien Vermet and is free to download from the Google Play store. The current version 1.04, updated on Dec. 28, requires devices running on Android 2.0 or later.
"Nexus Availability Checker allows you to check automatically the availability of all Nexus devices in your country. When a device becomes available you'll receive a notification on your phone (and play a ringtone and a long vibration). Availabilities are checked every hours. The donation version allows you to change refresh rates and is ad free," stated the app description on the Google Play Store.
Another app called the 'Nexus Checker' by Claudio Mezzasalma is also available from the Google Play store for free. The Nexus Checker app is compatible with devices running Android 2.3.3 or later.
"An application to check the worldwide availability of the Google Nexus devices. Keep track of Nexus devices availability in - every - Play Store (not only the one where you connect from, like other apps), for free," states the app description.
If you are looking to buy a Nexus 4 and are tired of constantly checking the Web site for stock availability, perhaps it's time you took advantage of either of these apps.
