Unexpected emergencies can find their way to anyone and contents of an emergency kit can be lifesaving. SpareOne, an emergency mobile phone, may soon become a part of an emergency kit to make those important calls and save you from a catastrophic situation.

To operate the phone, all you need is an AA battery and a SIM. Being an unlocked GSM phone, SpareOne is perfect for anyone who wants a back-up phone without being bothered by maintenance issues. Additionally, SpareOne comes packed in a waterproof bag, which is floatable and submersible.

With a single AA battery, SpareOne can offer up to 10 hours of talk time and a whopping 15 years of standby time. Furthermore, the device is also fitted with a torchlight that can be continuously used for 24 hours. SpareOne is lightweight for something of its size and has big buttons to avoid any accidental presses. You can also pre-program nine important numbers and document them on the menu sticker provided.

You can contact emergency services without a SIM, or insert your SIM from your existing phone and continue sending and receiving calls from your original phone number. The device's Auto text features means that if anyone sends you a text, SpareOne will reply with an automatic text response informing them that you cannot read text messages and can be reached via phone calls instead.

"The SpareOne emergency cell phone that is powered by a single AA battery for up to 10 hours of use. Able to make emergency calls, even without a SIM card. The SpareOne Doesn't leap tall buildings, but could just save your life. Where will you keep yours?" notes the official Web site of SpareOne.

SpareOne is currently available for $89.99 each. The price reduces if you wish to buy multiple units.
