Capcom wants to start off its journey on a fresh note with the new Nintendo Wii U and, per reports, has bluntly confirmed that the company has no intentions of porting older Capcom games to Nintendo's next generation gaming console Wii U.
"With regard to WiiU, in general we're looking forward, not back so late ports are generally not on the table," Christian Svensson, Capcom USA's senior vice president, said.
The comment was sent out in response to a thread asking whether 'Resident Evil 6' and 'Lost Planet 3' would make it to Wii U, with the latter expected to arrive on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013.
"There are a lot of reasons for that, and most of all it's completely logical, why would the company spend so much resources on a userbase that is looking forward to newer games? If they wanted to play the older ones they would just buy the older consoles," a Gamingbolt report states.
Back in September, Svensson stated: "There are many thousands of people who are thrilled with the announcement of what is our currently largest brand coming to Nintendo's existing portable and new console platform. The significance of that should not be underestimated."
He added at that time that while he couldn't reveal further details, Capcom is set to have more Wii U projects in the works that would be announced at later dates. Moreover, Capcom, per a VG247 report, "has not announced any further Wii U releases since Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, a March release. It's even passing over the system for DmC, which hits other HD consoles in February, although arguable rival Bayonetta 2 will be a Wii U exclusive."
However, the new decision from the company means that fan-favorites such as 'Resident Evil 6' are highly unlikely to find themselves on Wii U in the future. Although Capcom revealed 'Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate' for the system, many fans were looking forward to playing the popular zombie-infested franchise on the new gaming console.
However, with that not being possible either now or in the near future, it seems like fans might have to wait for 'Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate' for the new gaming console.
