Samsung hasn't officially announced its Q4 earnings but if this leak is to be believed, the electronics giant is going to report record breaking earnings and a very impressive stat of the number of phones it has sold per minute.
Reuters is reporting that Samsung will report another record breaking $8.1 billion profit for Q4 2012. Sales of its mobile handsets will reportedly be around a monumental 63 million smartphones sold and hold a very impressive stat of 500 handsets sold per minute. Samsung isn't only making these kinds of profits from its own products; it also makes money on supplying rivals like Apple Inc. with key components found in their iOS devices.
Samsung is expected to announce sales of the Samsung Galaxy S3 at around 15 million sold compared to last quarter's 18 million sold. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is expected to push its smartphone sales to a record breaking quarter, with the majority of its phablet sales coming from the US, proving customers want smartphones with 5+ inch screens. The impressive number of smartphones sold lies in the number of different smartphones Samsung released in 2012, a total of 37. This number is glaring compared to its competitors in the smartphone world. Its rivals LG released 24 smartphones during the same period, followed by HTC with 18, then Nokia with 9, and last but not least, Apple releasing only the iPhone 5.
Samsung will reportedly issue a warning that the record 5 consecutive quarters it has been reporting might end next quarter due to weak seasonal demand. This warning is not expected to have any real downside as Samsung will reportedly launch the successor to the Samsung Galaxy S3, the Galaxy S4, sometime in the second quarter. The Samsung Galaxy S4 will be even bigger than the Galaxy S3 as every new Galaxy S model released has easily outperformed its predecessor in terms of display size.
