Panasonic is one of those companies that barely pops up on the radar when it comes to computers and, therefore, when the company announces a Windows 8 tablet with a 20-inch display and 4K resolution out of the blue, we're listening.
Probably the biggest surprise at CES 2013 is this massive Windows 8-based 20-inch 4K tablet from Panasonic. According to the company, the tablet is for business users, engineers, architects, and photographers along with those few who require 4K on a 20-inch touchscreen. The resolution on Panasonic's tablet is 3,840 x 2,560, which could prove to be a little too much for a 20-inch display.
Since the tablet is for business users, engineers etc., Panasonic did not announce a price or availability. As it stands, this 20-inch Windows 8 tablet may never find itself in a retail store for the common man to drool over, because the pricing would likely be on the higher side (read: exorbitant). Furthermore, Panasonic seem to have forgotten that tablets are for mobility and this 20-inch beast is far from being that. No one, not even the target audience would find this tablet comfortable to hold, not to mention, to use.
For all we know, perhaps Panasonic has no intention of selling this tablet to anyone. The company may have forged this tablet to show off its technical prowess in 4K resolution display technology. It needs to, as bigger rivals like Samsung, LG and Sony are all doing the same at this years' CES. That makes more sense than truly planning to sell anyone a tablet that has a 20-inch display. Panasonic would have been better off turning this into a notebook. It probably wouldn't be a bestseller but at least it would be more practical.
