New kid on the block, Sony's Xperia Z, has created quite a stir at CES 2013. Even though Sony did not announce a specific date for the Xperia Z's release, or the price and countries where the smartphone would be available, several UK retailers and carriers have kicked off pre-registration and pre-orders for the device.
The release dates range from as early as February to March, keeping with Q1 2013 release time frame Sony mentioned.
We take a look at where you can pick up the water- and dust-resistant Xperia Z in the UK.
Clove
E-retailer Clove UK has the unlocked version of the Xperia Z up for pre-order for £440.00 (approximately $710); however this is not inclusive of VAT. Clove is offering the Xperia Z in both black and white and notes that the smartphone is "Expected 1st March 2013."
The retailer also disclaims that the "official price and availability" are to be confirmed.
O2
By the look of things, it seems that carrier O2 would be the first to offer the Xperia Z as its Web site lists the date as February. O2 did not reveal the pricing details for the Sony smartphone, but mentions that it will offer the device in black and purple (exclusive to O2).
"Meet the Sony Xperia Z, coming to O2 in black & exclusive purple! Register for info," tweeted O2.
Phones4U
Retailer Phones4U says that the Xperia Z will arrive in its stores from March 1. The retailer is offering the Sony handset in black and white. Those interested can register for Xperia Z updates as Phones4U is yet to open pre-orders and reveal the pricing.
Carphone Warehouse
Carphone Warehouse's Web site says that the Xperia Z is "coming soon" and you can pre-register for availability updates.
"We will contact you when the Sony Xperia Z is available to order," notes retailer's site.
The smartphone is speculated to go up for pre-order in February.
Three
Carrier Three is also slated to offer the Sony Xperia Z; however, its site only says "coming soon to the network" and does not divulge any other details.
Vodafone
Vodafone too has confirmed that the "monolithic monster" Xperia Z will soon arrive on its network, but like Three, it too does not spill the beans on the date and pricing.
