Sony launched its Xperia Z at the International CES earlier in January this year and now the smartphone is testing new waters with a dust and water durability test showed in a Spanish video.
The Xperia Z is made a splash at CES 2013 and we are still waiting for confirmation from Sony regarding the markets which will get the Sony flagship smartphone.
Packed with top-end features, the Xperia Z is also water and dust proof. A Spanish video exhibits how rugged the smartphone is. No worries if you don't understand Spanish as the dust- and water-proof features of the Xperia Z exhibited in the video do not need verbal explanation.
To demonstrate the durability of the Xperia Z, the video puts the device through a few tests with a unique approach. In most drop tests, the smartphone is dropped from a variety of heights; however, in the video, the demonstrator bangs the handset against the side of a bathtub.
The test for dust resistance starts with rubbing a handful of sand on the screen of the Xperia Z. After the sand is rubbed against the smartphone's screen, the Xperia Z is then run under the faucet for a few seconds before being completely submerged in the bathtub.
The demonstrator on the video then shows that the smartphone is still working even after going through rigorous durability tests one after the other.
Per the video, the Sony Xperia Z escaped any damage from drop (or banging, to be precise), dust or water, and didn't seem to have any real damage.
In real life, the Xperia Z may not go through these severe circumstances especially, one after the other; however, accidental damage may occur.
Packed with top-end hardware specifications and water- and dust-proof features, the Sony offering will undoubtedly try to steal a lead in the smartphone race of 2013.
