Samsung Galaxy S3 owners, who were waiting for an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean-based custom firmware, here is something for them.

Owners of Galaxy S3 SCH-R530 available from U.S. Cellular can now flash the Avatar ROM firmware and enjoy some amazing features. Avatar ROM is more exciting as it is a combination of CyanogenMode 10 ROM and MIUI theme engine.

Flashing of Avatar ROM lets you enjoy features of CM 10 ROM and at the same time you can improve your phone's visual interaction by installing MIUI eye candy theme.

Before you start installing the Avatar ROM, remember that the ROM is still under development and may contain bugs and issues. All issues will be resolved as development progress.

You should not forget these points before going ahead

- Backup your data and apps.

- The device has at least 80 percent battery power.

- The USB driver must be installed for U.S. Cellular Samsung Galaxy S3 R530 in your PC.

- The USB Debugging must be enabled.

- Backup your EFS Folder.

- The device must have ClockworkMod Recovery Installed.

- Flashing this ROM on your device will increase your binary counter.

- Don't skip Nandroid backup as it's very helpful if this custom ROM doesn't work the way you wanted.

2: Google Apps [Filename: gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip]

Follow these steps to start installation

Step 1: Connect your Galaxy S3 to a PC using USB cable.

Step 2: Copy downloaded files to the SD card of your phone without extracting them.

Step 3: Disconnect the USB and power off your phone.

Step 4: Boot into ClockworkMod recovery in your U.S. Cellular Galaxy S3 R530 by pressing and holding theVolume Up, Power and Home buttons together. Wait till the Samsung logo appears on screen.

Step 5: Release the buttons and hold them again. You will get ClockworkMod recovery screen soon. Now browse between options in recovery using Volume keys while usingPower key to select an option.

Step 6: Perform a Nandroid backup of your existing ROM by selecting Backup and Restore, then on the next screen, selecting Backup again. Once back up is complete, go back to the main recovery menu.

Step 7: Perform the data wiping task. To do so, select the wipe data/ factory reset, then select Yes on next screen to confirm your action. Wait for a few minutes till the data wipe is completed.

Step 8: Select install zip from the sdcard and after that select choose zip from the sdcard. Now, locate the cm-1.0b_32_20130112_d2usc.zip file and select it by pressingPower button. Confirm installation by selecting Yes - Install _____.zip on the next screen. The ROM installation will begin.

Step 9: Once the ROM installation is done, repeat the step 8 but choose the gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip file instead of ROM zip to install the Google apps package.

Step 10: After the installation is completed, go back to the main recovery menu and selectreboot system now to reboot the phone and boot up into customized Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The first boot will take time.
