The fabled Motorola X is back in the news, and this time there's a bit more to it as far as important details are concerned.
Per reports, the upcoming and highly rumored Motorola X smartphone is said to arrive on July 8 after the device gets announced by mid-day at the upcoming Google I/O.
The release date, as expected, could easily change as the date nears since this is set to be one of the highly talked-about smartphones of the year, especially because the X is expected to arrive running on the next generation Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
Apart from the device's release date, the X is also expected to be available for $299 on Verizon with new contracts. However, those who want to avoid the contract will be glad to know that Google will sell the device contract-free from the Google Play Store at a similar off-contract price as that of the Nexus line.
Although, as of now, only the Verizon version of the device has been revealed and pricing details for other carriers are not available, but, per an Android Authority report, "it would make sense to see them charge their subscribers similar fees as Verizon."
Interestingly, the "Big Red" is also set to have a special fee for anyone looking to unlock the bootloader of the Motorola X with that being $15 per month, although Google Play buyers will get it unlocked from the very beginning.
This is a brand new report for the X after it was previously stated that the device will be a 5-inch, edge-to-edge, no-bezel, device, although not a Nexus device. It was also stated that the X will be the first phone from Motorola which will be a cross-carrier-branded device, and so the name 'X.'
The X is also said to come running stock Android and with some bloatware, although the bloatware can apparently be removed once the device has been unlocked.
"I don't even know where to begin with this. An X Phone on all carriers, running stock that will be sold directly through Google Play at an insanely low price, and with an unlockable bootloader? Doesn't it sound way too good? That's a dream scenario right there, but then again, with the new Google leadership, maybe Motorola is going big," Droid Life wrote.
