Samsung's Galaxy S4 is touted to be the next big thing, and the impending smartphone is sending fans and tech experts in a tizzy with the incessant rumors gathering momentum with each passing day. Word's on the street that Samsung is gearing up to host a Mobile Unpacked event in March, which will see its flagship phone, the Galaxy S4, make its debut.
Recently, Samsung Mobile's JK Shin had confirmed that the Galaxy S4 smartphone would not be shown off at the MWC 2013 in February, but soon. With news of the March event trickling in, it seems Shin meant sooner rather than later.
According to a report from Asia Economy, the Korean company has scheduled the Mobile Unpacked media event for March 22 in Apple's home turf, the U.S.
In the past, Samsung has announced its Galaxy S line-up within February to May. The Galaxy S1, Galaxy S2, and Galaxy S3 were unveiled in March 2010, Feb. 2011, and early May 2012, respectively. The March unveiling would imply that the Galaxy S4 would hit the shelves in the coming weeks, as early as April 2013.
If the rumors bear fruition, then the release date would put Samsung in the driver's seat, giving it ample time to establish a stronghold in the consumer market, just like it did with its Galaxy S3. The purported launch date in March would also pit the Galaxy S4 against Apple's next offering, since the latter is also expected to take the wraps off its next-gen iPhone 5S/iPhone 6 around the same time.
The Galaxy S4 is speculated to sport a 4.99-inch Full HD AMOLED flexible display. It will likely feature an 8-core Exynos 5 Octa processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel primary camera, 2-megapixel secondary camera, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie or Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean, wireless charging, and the S Pen stylus.
Additionally, per reports, Samsung will initially retail the Galaxy S4 in two colors - black and white.
With ides of March not too far away, the big question is - will Samsung unveil the Galaxy S4 on March 22?
