Recently, an image of the display panel of the upcoming 6.44-inch smartphone from Sony, codenamed Xperia Togari, leaked online. At the time, not much else was revealed; however, now the specs and features of the colossal Sony phablet have leaked and suggest that the device will come with a stylus in tow.
The leaked specs come courtesy of a user who goes by the name "Randomuser" on the Esato forum. In the past, Randomuser spilled the beans on the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL handsets from Sony and was accurate.
According to Randomuser, the Sony Xperia Togari will sport a 6.44-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. The smartphone will also have the distinction of being one of the first phablets to house the new Qualcomm Snapdragon ARM 800 processor.
The device will also look to challenge the impending Samsung Galaxy Note 3, rumored to be 6.3 inches, by packing in a stylus. The Xperia Togari is also rumored to have a whopping 3GB of RAM and will offer support for 4G LTE, GSM, and NFC. Just like its smaller sibling the Xperia ZL, the high-end phone will also have an IR blaster that will enable the device to act like a remote.
The list of specs and features for the Xperia Togari is as follows:
- 6.44 inch 192 0x 1080 IPS screen (JDI) + OptiContrast and MBE-2
- 3 GB RAM
- MSM8974 krait 800 (quad-core processor clocked at an impressive 2.3GHz)
- Adreno 330 graphics
- 32GB of on-board memory
- 13-megapixel Exmor RS primary camera
- 2-megapixel Full HD Exmor R front-facing camera
- 3500mAh battery
- 4G LTE, NFC, and GSM support
- Stylus
- IR blaster
It is not yet known whether the Xperia Togari will have an expandable memory option. However, given that both the newly launched Xperia Z and Xperia ZL phones have the microSD card option, chances are so will the Xperia Togari.
Rumor has it that Sony will launch its Xperia Togari in the second half of 2013 and not at the MWC in February. Samsung too is speculated to launch the Galaxy Note 3 in the second half, possibly at the IFA. It will be interesting to see if Sony can give Samsung a run for its money in time to come.
