While the current generation of Android - Android Jelly Bean - is still very much in fashion and is yet to make an appearance on a host of Android devices, like the original Galaxy Note, there is a huge possibility that it may arrive sooner than expected.
Per reports, there is a high chance that the next generation Android refresh from Google - Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie - could actually make a highly anticipated appearance at the upcoming Google I/O event.
Alongside, more reports state that the heavily rumored Nexus 5 could also arrive at the I/O running the Key Lime Pie. This is only the second Android smartphone to be rumored to arrive at the I/O with the next generation Android operating system after the Motorola X.
The Motorola X, said to also arrive running the Key Lime Pie, is expected to sport a 5-inch, edge-to-edge, no-bezel design. While the device is not a Nexus device, the device is highly rumored to be the first phone from Motorola which will be a cross-carrier-branded device.
It has also been rumored that the new smartphone from Motorola, when revealed, could be made out of Kevlar (at least the chassis of the device, if not the whole thing) which will make the device more durable for users. However, if this is true, it will not be something new as far as Motorola and its previously revealed smartphones are concerned.
The Nexus 5, on the other hand, with the inclusion of Key Lime Pie is said to include the option of multiple user profiles. "It would also likely offer options like longer battery time or better performance. And because so many of us can't function like regular humans without being always plugged in to our social networks, there's also talk of improved Twitter integration," Know your Cell states.
However, if these reports are indeed true, fans will see not one but two different devices running the highly talked about Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie platform, and that could seem like quite an exciting prospect for both Google and its fans.
However, everything is still just in the rumor mode and nothing can be said with certainty until the Google I/O finally happens this year.
