A series of images of Apple's next-generation iPhone, unofficially dubbed iPhone 5S, have surfaced online giving the first glimpse into the design and dimensions of the most-awaited Apple smartphone.
The photos were posted on a blog on Chinese Web site Zol.com.cn which claimed that iPhone 5S is being manufactured at a Foxconn's facility in China. The images show a product, very similar to the iPhone 5, in various stages of development. The gallery also includes an image of Foxconn employees, wearing body suits, taking a break during the assembling process.
While there is no way to verify the authenticity of the images, some even claim that this could be the assembly line of iPhone 5 knock-offs. The images allegedly taken inside a Foxconn factory include the assembly line for the iPhone 5S, close-ups of the screen as well as the tightly-packed innards. The device looks identical to iPhone 5 and some images even details the way the battery is affixed and other sundry chips.
The news came on the heels of a recent report of iPhone 5S and 5-inch iPhone 6 spotted at a Chinese supplier which suggested that both the devices will come in 2013. "A source told Chinese mobile phone information site Laoyaoba.com that he has seen the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 at Apple's suppliers. Both models may be released in 2013, according to the website's microblog on Thursday evening. The source noted that the iPhone 5S resembles the iPhone 5, and the five-inch iPhone 6 is lighter and thinner," investment news wire BrightWire translated the Sina Tech report. The Sina Tech report further stated that the iPhone 5S will be minor update to the current version while iPhone 6 will be a 5-inch device.
Other rumors indicated that the next iPhone come with a full-HD screen, offer iPod touch-like colour options, feature a better camera and come with a storage bump in the form of the recently announced a 128GB iPad.
