LG has finally taken the wraps off its much-awaited smartphone Optimus G Pro, showing off a 5.5-inch full-HD curved glass display, in its homeland South Korea.
The android beast does include pretty much everything that has been rumored about the product. Although the company did not detail the specs in its press release, it's expected that Optimus G Pro features a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, a massive 3140mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, a 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera, and a 13 megapixel rear-facing camera. The device will also have 32GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot for memory extension, and it supports 4G LTE connectivity for South Korean carriers as well. The device will run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
However, it should be noted that this is not a remake of the Japanese variant as it comes with certain aesthetic differences and most notably a bigger display (5.5-inches vs Japan's 5-inch). What stands the device out of the other models is its introduction of the curved glass display, which the company claims would give a '2.5D' effect.
LG Optimus G Pro comes in black and white and if you are taking a close look at the back casing of the device, you will notice LG's now trademark 'glitter' pattern giving it a glimmering "Digital Cube" effect.
The official unveiling of the device comes a week after the specs of Optimus G Pro smartphone leaked online. The device will reach the South Korean market first, possibly by the end of this month and the company is yet to make an official announcement of its arrival to Europe or the United States.
LG has reportedly pushed the release date up as it fears that a possible clash with Samsung Galaxy S4 release would hurt the sales of Optimus G Pro. The company hopes that its release earlier than Galaxy S4 would give it ample time to get a head start on sales before the most-awaited Samsung smartphone dominates the market.
LG has recently launched its next-generation of L-series II smartphones including the Optimus L3 II, Optimus L5 II and Optimus L7 II.
