Per reports, Twitter just released a newly redesigned app for Windows Phone versions 7 and above that has arrived with a boatload of features for easier access and use.

The new updated Twitter app for Windows Phone has arrived with four new navigation tabs – Home, Connect, Discover, and Me. These are new features for the Windows Phone-based devices, although they are already found on Twitter's other mobile apps for Android and iOS.

“Today we're introducing a new version of Twitter for Windows Phone. In addition to a new design, which brings the app in line with other Twitter apps, this update includes several features that make it easier for you to discover and share the content that matters to you,” the official page states.

The four new navigation tabs are meant to help out the user is several different ways. Home is meant to view Tweets from the accounts the user follows. They can now tap a tweet to expand it and see more content, such as photos, videos and Web site summaries.

Connect lets the user keep up with his or her mentions, and the user can see who has followed him or her or retweeted or favorited one of the user’s Tweets.

Discover allows the user to see trends and find new content on Twitter, and the user can browse categories, find friends on Twitter and see suggestions for accounts to follow.

Finally, Me is there to read and respond to the direct messages. From here, users can see their lists, favorites, and more, and can also view and update their profiles.

Apart from these, the Windows Phone app also contains the distinctive feature of being able to pin select Twitter accounts, searches and lists as "live tiles" to Windows Phone's start screen. These tiles will automatically update with new content as it becomes available.

“Compose a Tweet or search from anywhere in the app, using the new icon buttons in the Application Bar,” the page adds. “Pin Twitter accounts, lists and searches to your start screen, giving you quick access to some of your favorite Twitter content.”
