If you are an owner of Samsung Galaxy Nexus from Verizon, here is something very exciting news for you.
Now, you can update your Galaxy Nexus to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean but unofficially. Verizon has not released the firmware update so far, but an XDA developer managed to pull the update file directly from a Google OTA server and post it online for the users.
As the file containing the firmware JDQ39 is taken directly from the Google server, user can almost consider it as an actual update and go on with updating their devices.
Since the update has already been leaked, Verizon won't not take much time now and may release the update somewhere within this month.
To install the JDQ39, which will directly take you to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean from the earlier Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, your phone should be running on the actual Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean firmware.
If your phone is not running the actual Android 4.1.1 JRO03C, and is on a custom ROM, you will have to downgrade it to the earlier version of Android (JRO03C) to update your firmware.
The update is not available for over the air (OTA) update and you will have to download and flash this firmware manually. If you are not quite familiar with this kind of operations, we advise you to be little more patient and wait for the official roll out of the update.
Updating the Samsung Galaxy Nexus from Verizon will boost the performance of the smartphone's user interface (UI), at the same time the signals and the Bluetooth of the device will also be improved.
According to an Uber Gizmo report, the person who managed to get the update file and leak it is named as WinDroidGuy. "The oxymoronically-named WinDroidGuy, managed to get hold of the updated ZIP package, and those who are interested will be able to perform a download, where the ZIP package will be 88.8MB in size," the report adds.
