Good news for Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 owners, as the Wi-Fi version of the tablet is now getting Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean in the U.S.

Samsung launched its 8-inch Galaxy Note tablet earlier this year to a highly-competitive market and software updates are key to staying ahead. Owners of the tablet have been patiently waiting for the promised Android 4.2.2 update and now it seems the moment has finally arrived.

The software update is rolling out now for all owners of the Wi-Fi Galaxy Note 8.0 and it has reached plenty of users already. Several users have reported receiving the update over the last few days and by the end of the week Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean should reach all devices.

The upgrade is readily available either over the air (OTA) or via Samsung KIES. As expected, it brings some stability improvements and TouchWiz UI changes, among other things. The TouchWiz interface changes are the same ones that were previously pushed to the LTE version of the slate, which include enhancements to Contacts, S Planner and Email.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 originally launched with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on board. In addition to the aforementioned stability and interface changes, the software update to Android 4.2.2 will also bump things up under the hood.

For those unfamiliar with the slate, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 comes with an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, has a quad-core Exynos processor clocked at 1.6GHz and 2GB of RAM under the hood, and sports a 5-megapixel primary camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter. The tablet also has support for the popular S Pen.

Samsung's Galaxy Note range of tablets has been very popular with consumers and a software update is expected to make the 8-inch slate even more attractive to potential buyers.

If you haven't received the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update yet, you can check whether it's available either from Settings, or on your computer via Samsung KIES. If you have already installed the software update, let us know how it fares compared to the previous version.
