There are a good number of HTC Droid DNA users and now they have some new features to look forward to fresh in the new year.
Per reports, the Verizon-based HTC Droid DNA, courtesy of the HTC One, now has a working Sense 5.0 ROM that offers more features to the users and at the same time opening up a brand new dimension.
While the developer calls this version an alpha build, almost everything is working, although, at this time, HTC Zoe does not work and neither does the MMS messaging service.
However, owing to the fact that users can already use Gmail to send pictures and HTC Zoe is a brand new feature, this certain ROM can be treated as a normal driver material.
"This is the beginning of my sense 5 port for DNA... I've made a lot of progress and i think it ready for a beta release. I hope you guys enjoy it," the developer states in XDA.
Here's the full list of features that are working:
Data
Calls/Text
Bluetooth
Wi-Fi
GPS
Camera
Video
Audio
NFC
HDMI
SD card
USB Mount
To get started, the user will need to have the device's bootloader unlocked, and either S-Off or S-On will work. Before going ahead, a full wipe is recommended, and, as always, the user is advised to make sure to make a good backup before proceeding.
Moreover, if the user is on S-On, he or she will want to flash the included kernel (boot.img) from fastboot prior to flashing both zips. If, however, the user is on S-Off, he or she can flash these zips as normal.
For those who are still not used to the Sense 5.0, it was announced this year for the HTC One, and features a more minimalistic design, alongside a new scrolling news aggregator known as "BlinkFeed", which is similar in fashion to Flipboard and Windows Phone's live tiles.
Sense 5.0 also displays a scrolling grid of news headlines and social network content, and, by default, only uses two home screen pages. While one of the pages offer a traditional grid for apps and widgets (as found in previous devices, but using a grid with lesser spaces for apps by default), and the default screen with a redesigned clock and BlinkFeed, although there is the option to add more pages.
