Samsung is preparing to bring out its latest samartphone, but at the same time, it doesn't seem to be sending its 2012 flagship device Galaxy S3 to the archives.
At a time when its successor Galaxy S4 is almost around the corner, the company is looking to refresh the S3 smartphone with better display, wireless charging capability and a 2,400 mAh battery.
Galaxy S3 has been a huge hit in the smartphone market that it hit the 30 million mark back in November 2012 and now Samsung wants to release an updated version of the device as it did with other smartphones for smaller markets such as Galaxy S2 Plus and the Galaxy S Advance in 2012.
The information comes from the popular Russian journalist Eldar Murtazin who released these details through his Twitter account. He has been accurate in predicting tech developments including the upcoming Galaxy S4 released being on March 14 in New York City.
Banking on the huge popularity of the device in the U.S, Samsung will re-release the handset in the country with an updated HD display, an improved battery and wireless charging capabilities. Although HD display is speculated to arrive on to the smartphone, it's not clear at this point if it will be 1080p. The battery will be bumped up a few hundred mAh more, possibly to introduce a 2,400 mAh battery complete with built-in wireless charging. The updated version of the device is expected to arrive after the S4 release.
Meanwhile, a recent report had stated that eBay began selling the factory-unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 for a reduced amount of $470 with no charges for shipping. Many speculate that such price reduction move will be followed by other major vendors who bought massive numbers of the Galaxy S3 as they will need to clear them out before the arrival of the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S4. The device up for sale in eBay is an international version and is available in a wide range of colors like Garnet Red, Marble White, Pebble Blue, Sapphire Black, Titanium Gray and brown, and it works anywhere in the world.
Galaxy S3 has been getting the Android software update from all its major carriers with the recent one being U.S. Cellular which has just released Jelly Bean 4.12 for its S3 variant.
