Windows Phone 9 Could Already Be In Works

Prarthito Maity

While the current generation Windows Phone 8 is the talk of the town for all those who use Windows Phone-based handsets, these users alongside others who are interested are in for a treat.

The development of Windows Phone 9, along with Windows 9, is already in works from Microsoft, and users could also take confidence from the fact that the information was revealed via a number of postings from Microsoft employees, per reports.

The new information has been revealed via numerous sources and a couple these sources are actually employee profiles on LinkedIn. While users and fans may not treat them as the most reliable source for data, it’s nevertheless interesting to see all these new mentions of the forthcoming OS.

Moreover, one employee also talks about testing Windows 9 (WP9, to be more precise) on Nokia, HTC, and Qualcomm models. Another employee, on the same topic, discusses about app deployment from the desktop to Windows Phone 9 handsets.

“Curiously, she [an employee] mentions a “Windows 9 OS,” which I’m assuming is meant to read “Windows Phone 9 OS.” Before Windows Blue was clarified, one of the most prevalent rumors was that Microsoft sought to unify not just the UI of Windows across all devices, but the Windows brand as a whole across all devices,” MSFT Kitchen writes.

The report also states that this new effort from Microsoft isn’t surprising at all, and “so maybe there really is something more to glean from the mention of a “Windows 9 OS” in the capacity of an employee working on the Windows Phone team.”

On the other hand, it could also happen that the employee here could have only meant “Windows Phone 9 OS.” “Either way, it’s quite interesting to see that Nokia, HTC, and Qualcomm devices are early targets for testing of a Windows Phone OS beyond Windows Phone Blue.”

However, one question emerging from this new report is if Windows Phone 9 and Windows 9 will actually merge together and how the apps will look on each platform and how all this concerns Windows (Phone) Blue.

“Perhaps this goes to show that Windows Blue is really just a primer for a larger picture that will paint itself more clearly in the Windows 9/Windows Phone 9 time frame,” MSFT Kitchen adds.
