The HTC Droid DNA from Verizon could soon find itself in a puddle and eventually forgotten, and all this could happen courtesy of the newly revealed HTC One.
A newly leaked Walmart wireless department document now states that Verizon could soon replace the previously offered HTC Droid DNA with the recently unveiled HTC One, according to reports.
The information will come as welcoming news for all those who have been looking forward to own the HTC One subscribed to Verizon, but were disappointed when Verizon revealed that the company won’t be carrying the device.
However, this definitely puts the Droid DNA in a tricky situation as now the device’s fate will be decided by Verizon as to what the company might want to do. Either it will outright replace the DNA, or come up with some different strategy to make both the devices available at the same time, although the document does reveal that Verizon will be replacing it with the HTC One, and could be heading over to interested users this month.
“So what do we think? I’m not exactly sure what to think. My mind keeps saying, 'If this phone was coming to Verizon this soon, why wasn’t it announced back with all other carriers?' But I guess you never know, maybe Verizon and HTC were continuing talks and weren’t ready to mention anything back in February,” Droid Life writes.
“I was also wondering if Walmart hadn’t simply mixed up the HTC One for T-Mobile, but when they specifically claim that this Verizon version will replace the DNA, you can almost throw that idea out.”
However, this is not the first time that Verizon has been rumored to carry the HTC One after it had already announced that the company won’t carry it.
Just a few days ago, the possibility of a HTC One from Verizon was reignited when it was reported that a new leak had appeared in Bluetooth SIG's database stating that HTC One could soon be offered by Verizon.
The handset in the leak was identified by its model number - HTC6445LVW, and was also clearly the one intended for operation on Verizon. However, although it was a bit tricky actually working out just which handset the number referred to, there was some solid indirect evidence that suggested that it might be the HTC One.
