The Samsung Galaxy S4 has finally arrived for all those fans who have been looking forward to this day for a very long time. However, the next thing that is on everybody’s mind is when the device will be made available for purchase, and now there’s some information to it, although not much.
While there’s not much to report on the availability dates of the device in regions like the U.S., Canada and UK, the assumed dates all point toward the second quarter of the year, according to reports.
While dealing with the users in the U.S., the Galaxy S4 is set to arrive during the second quarter of 2013, April to be more precise. As of now, three American carriers have outright confirmed the Galaxy S4 for their 4G LTE networks, as AT&T, Sprint and Verizon will be offering the Galaxy S4 in the future.
The S4 was finally announced on stage at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City with Samsung's mobile chief, JK Shin stating: “We are committed to innovation, we are always listening to learn from people around the world about what kind of progress they really want.”
The smartphone is set to roll out with 327 mobile operators around the world in 155 countries starting at the end of April, he said.
Moreover, AT&T and T-Mobile have already launched pre-registration pages for the Samsung Galaxy S4, but with no detailed availability or pricing. Sprint has also released a statement regarding the S4, assuring their customers that they too will offer the device.
The S4 will hit the UK on April 26 and every major network and retailer will sell the S4 in the country. O2, EE, Orange, T-Mobile, Three, Vodafone and Tesco Mobile have all confirmed they will sell the S4, and alongside, Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U will have it too, as well as online retailers.
“The S4 has 4G built in and it should work on each phone network when they launch 4G services this summer. From day one you'll be able to use the S4 with 4G speeds on EE, Britain's first LTE network,” CNET UK states. “Unlike EE, Three has promised it won't charge extra for 4G. So when you buy the S4 on Three, you'll seamlessly connect to 4G when its LTE service launches a month or two later without having to switch to a different contract. EE, Orange and T-Mobile will take your order for the S4 from 28 March, a month before delivery.”
As far as Canada is concerned, the S4 will be making its way to a number of carriers, and the full list of carriers includes:
Rogers
Bell
Eastlink
Fido
Koodoo
TELUS
Virgin Mobile
Wind Mobile
SaskTel
Mobilicity
Videotron
The only carrier to be missing out from this list is MTS in Manitoba.
Android Authority writes: “As for release dates on the various operators, we’re looking at mid-May, which is a little bit later than the global release in late April. No doubt that the carriers themselves will announce official launch dates in the next few months if not weeks though.”
