The much-rumored Facebook Home application, or Facebook Phone as some might call it, has apparently leaked before the big announcement April 4. This app is designed for those folks who use Facebook regularly on a daily basis.
Facebook Home is pretty much an application with deeper integration into the Android operating system compared to the regular application. We reported on an earlier rumor that popped up recently about Facebook's secret Android project.
The device the leaked app is running on is locked to AT&T and goes by the codename "Myst." Compared to many Android smartphones, the "Myst" is not a powerhouse and probably won't win any awards. But it seems to be affordable, and that is the only way a device with Facebook Home pre-installed would find success.
Specs of the HTC Myst (the Facebook Phone):
The boys over at Android Police were unable to dig deeper into the innards of the application due to the requirement of signing into Facebook Home. At the moment, only Facebook employees have the ability to do so, as well as probably a few unknown application testers.
What is known however, is there will be a Google logo for performing those infamous Google searches. The ability to chat with friends via Facebook Messenger is also present, and it will run in the background, so no need to worry about missing a reply.
It also seems as if Facebook has a thing for circles, for many of the icons in Facebook Home are exactly that, circles.
Overall, this could be a huge win for Facebook if incorporated correctly. However, one party will come away bitter from all this, and that is Microsoft. If you weren't aware, Microsoft owns a small percentage of shares in Facebook, and the Redmond company won't be too pleased to see Facebook Home being brought to Android, where it could potentially give Google's operating system more room to grow.
The Facebook Home Screen is expected also to be available in the Google Play Store as a free download for all compatible Android handsets.
