The recently announced Facebook Home launcher for Android devices is said to be only compatible with five devices. However, that doesn't appear to be the full story, as the beta version of the launcher works just fairly fine with the Google Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 tablet, along with a wide range of other devices.
Not everything works as one would have liked, but does so enough to be usable. So far, the "Chat Head" is not working properly, and the maximum supported resolution at this time is 1280x768, which means devices with displays below that will fail to run Facebook Home.
The good thing about getting Facebook Home beta on your phone is that it doesn't require rooting or any form of trickery. Just install the file and voila, you're now a certified Facebook bad-ass. Note, you should not expect a stable experience, things will get messy now and again, but that's what it's like with a product in beta.
You can wait until Friday for the official release, or simply make a stop at ModaCo's website and get yourself the beta, then brag to your Facebook friends.
Facebook Home is a launcher that integrates deeply with your Android phone. The launcher is designed for those folks who are constantly wasting time on Facebook watching cat videos and sharing statuses about "liking this particular picture for Jesus or scroll down for the devil" on a regular basis.
Facebook is also rumored to be in talks with phone manufacturers to have a device pre-installed with the Facebook Home launcher. HTC appears to be first in line, as the first leaked device running Facebook home is the HTC Myst. It is not yet known if other OEMs will take a liking to what Facebook is offering, though it would be a wise decision for them to at least give it a shot.
