An interesting new concept offers a glimpse into the future with an intriguing Nexus 6 / Google X Phone that runs on Android 6.0 Milkshake.
The Nexus 5 smartphone and the rumored Google X Phone sparked a huge amount of interest, with rumors and speculation flying all over the place. Various reports claim one thing or another and things don't quite seem to add up when it comes to the X Phone and Nexus 5 specs and features. Different reports claim different things, so instead of trying to determine what's real and what's pure fantasy, let's focus on fantasy with this cool new concept.
Concept ideas for phones always open up a new world of possibilities and can offer some valuable insight into what might come in the future. Who knows? Maybe some manufacturers are inspired by such concepts and decide to turn fantasy into reality.
Introo envisioned a Nexus 6 / X Phone stemming from a collaboration between Google and Motorola. The next Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie may well launch in the next few months, but this concept has "the most advanced Android out there" skipping a few steps and running on Android 6.0 Milkshake.
The handset envisioned sports a 4.6-inch flexible IPS OLED display, a 10-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, NFC, GPS, HDMI-out and, of course, wireless charging. Such a smartphone would not make its debut until the latter half of 2014 at the earliest.
In terms of design, Introo based its concept on the X Envelope, giving the handset an interesting shape. The back of the phone sports the signature "X" most people will find familiar. The smartphone of the future is made of semi-flexible materials, and as a distinctive touch each of the corners is shaved off diagonally to create a different look.
The concept also promises a "customized prototype experience of your device." Future owners of such a handset would be able to use 3-D printed cases for the top of the display and make 3-D parts to add to the chassis. Moreover, the smartphone would also support spatial gesture recognition.
"Some of the parts could be directly customized especially for you throughout the manufacturing process," explains Introo. "And of course, you can 3D print your own unique chassis. Open-hardware distribution should be available."
Bottom line, Google and Motorola could come up with an amazing smartphone (or more) if they put their minds to it, and this concept is just one idea of the amazing things that could come. Check out Introo's website for more pictures and details of the concept and let us know what you think. Do you have any other ideas of what the future Android powerhouse should be like?
