HTC One On Sprint Gets Price Cut To $99 Ahead Of Launch

Alexandra Burlacu

The HTC One is one of the hottest Android smartphones, and Sprint just dropped the price of the handset to $99 for new customers.

Sprint will start selling the HTC One Friday, April 19, but it already has the smartphone available for pre-order. Ahead of the big launch, Sprint decided to offer more incentives to lure customers to its network and new Sprint subscribers can get the HTC One for just $99.

The HTC One was previously available for pre-order with a $199 price tag, but new customers can now benefit from a $100 rebate if they agree to sign a two-year contract with Sprint. The reduced price for the handset will only be available for a limited amount of time.

For those unfamiliar with this Android powerhouse, the HTC One sports a massive 4.7-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a pixel density of 468 pixels per inch (ppi). A powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor rests under the hood, clocked at 1.7GHz and backed up by 2GB of RAM. The handset rocks Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with a future update to version 4.2.

The HTC One comes in either 32GB or 64GB configurations, boasts HTC's new Ultrapixel camera and packs HTC's latest custom HTC Sense 5 user interface. The Ultrapixel camera on the HTC One comes with an f/2.0 lens and, according to HTC, it can collect 300 percent more light for better-quality pictures in low-light conditions. The handset also rocks a pair of front-facing speakers, as well as the popular Beats Audio.

In an increasingly competitive smartphone market, the HTC One seems to be faring quite well. The unlocked models, for instance, appear as out of stock on HTC's website - both the 32GB model and the 64GB HTC One Developer Edition. This means that although Samsung dominates the market with its Android range of smartphones, the HTC One sparks plenty of interest. If the unlocked models sold out, the subsidized, carrier versions are likely to be successful as well, especially with a $99 price tag. Check out the HTC One on Sprint at this link.
