UK phone insurance company Mobile Insurance posted data online regarding phone claims, according to PC Advisor. This information shows which mobile phones are more fault-prone, and which are more reliable in everyday use.
The data reveals the Samsung Galaxy S3 as the most fault-prone mobile phone in the UK. It is followed by the HTC Desire S and the Nokia Lumia 610. The Apple iPhone 3GS turned out to be the most reliable, which might be a surprise to some smartphone users.
What's interesting is that users with colored handsets tend to have more problems with their devices compared to those who opted for the black or silver variant of a particular smartphone device. Why is this? No one knows, it's just something that happens.
"We've already looked at the phones that get accidentally damaged the most, but that tends to be down to the user," said Jason Brockman, director at MobileInsurance.co.uk. "Breakdowns and faults with the handset itself often can't be avoided, so we wanted to let people know which phones most commonly experience faults so that they can avoid them."
The list of fault-prone phones, from most to least:
1. Samsung Galaxy S 3
2. HTC Desire S
3. Nokia Lumia 610
4. iPhone 4
5. BlackBerry Bold 9900
6. iPhone 4S
7. Sony Xperia S
8. BlackBerry Curve 9220
9. Samsung Tocco Lite 2
Undoubtedly, many smartphone buyers will still go ahead and purchase devices that are on this list despite the fault-prone issues. It goes to show that smartphone buyers purchase handsets based on brand, and not reliability.
"If you have a phone that's prone to faults, like one of those 10 in the list, be sure to get your handset a decent insurance policy. We cover handsets up to 12 months old and, as part of that cover, we insure against phone fault and handsets breaking down, effectively picking up where the manufacturer's warranty ends," said Mobile Insurance.
If you are out looking for a phone and you see your favorite choice on this list, perhaps you should choose something else and not follow your friends.
