A new, unannounced Motorola smartphone popped up in AnTuTu benchmark results, again sparking speculation about a Google X Phone.
AnTuTu benchmarks that surface online well before the handset in question is official are no guarantee that they are authentic, so keep in mind that nothing is confirmed just yet.
According to RBMen, the benchmark shows a U.S.-bound Motorola XT1055, a handset that seems to pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.7GHz and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The purported smartphone scores 18252 in AnTuTu. Other specs and features of this rumored device are not available at this point.
The benchmark again sparked speculation about the much-rumored Google X Phone, but it's impossible to tell for now. The XT1055 model number does not mean the handset may be the rumored X Phone just because it starts with an "X." Motorola has several Android handsets part of its XT family, including the Droid RAZR HD (XT925/XT926), the Droid RAZR M (XT907) and the RAZR I (XT890).
Motorola is widely expected to launch several new Android handsets this year, but nothing is official for now. A different AnTuTu benchmark with a score of 15,000 surfaced a few days ago, allegedly for a device rumored to be the Google X Phone and rock the purported Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
Meanwhile, an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean version appeared in some server logs last week, suggesting the next Android OS upgrade will not be Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. This might explain why the new test result in this AnTuTu benchmark seems to run on Android 4.2.2, but got a better score.
The new Motorola XT1055 handset featured in this new AnTuTu benchmark may or may not be real, and it may or may not be the Google X Phone. Take things with a grain of salt until Motorola or Google decide to make anything official. One thing, however, is for certain: Motorola has some interesting Android smartphones in the works, and Google's Eric Schmidt and Larry Page seem very excited. With the Google I/O developers conference just around the corner, more details on new Motorola products should become available soon.
