Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 owners, rejoice! Samsung finally started rolling out the long-awaited Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update, upgrading the tablets to some Jelly Bean goodness.
It's been so long that some Galaxy Tab 7.7 owners almost gave up hope of ever getting a taste of Jelly Bean. Waiting patiently, however, sometimes pays off, and in this case it means finally getting that neat upgrade.
According to SamMobile, the device with model number GT-P6800 is ready to get the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean upgrade. The update was supposed to arrive a while ago, but back in March reports started surfacing that Samsung was having some issues with the upgrade, which was consequently delayed. The issue was apparently related to some sort of difficulty with the Exynos processor that didn't seem to like Jelly Bean all that much.
Speculation at the time indicated a delay until May or June, and it now seems that was correct. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 owners in the U.S., however, may have to wait a little while longer, considering that stateside carriers often take their time to release OS updates.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 GT-P6800 update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is reportedly rolling out now, starting in Asia, with other regions likely to follow shortly. No exact timeframe is available for other regions, but it shouldn't take long now.
The update means that Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 owners will soon be able to enjoy the goodies Android Jelly Bean has to offer. The firmware update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is available over-the-air (OTA) or via Samsung Kies. The update is currently available in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and Malaysia.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 received its last update back in the summer of 2012, so finally getting Jelly Bean is great news for owners of the slate. The 2012 update brought Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but no one thought it would be a year until the next major update. Jelly Bean brings major improvements and cool new features over ICS and will likely make it worth the wait. Let us know when you receive the update.
