The HTC HD2 is the phone that never dies, the phone that seems to have the ability to run every operating system ever conceived. Its latest achievement is Firefox OS, yes, you read correctly, the HTC HD2 is capable of running Firefox OS, but not without hiccups.
A community member over at XDA Developers Forum, who goes by the name feherneoh, managed to get Firefox OS, which is also known as Boot2Gecko, running on the HTC HD2. The Internet-centric operating system has been slowly making its way into the hands on consumers for over a year now, and before too long, we should see the very first devices on the market.
For those who are interested in giving this a go, note that as of now, many things do not work. For example, the camera only works when it feels like, the SIM card not detected, and sound is too low. Except for these issues, there doesn't seem to be anything major wrong here, so go ahead and take Firefox OS for a spin on the your immortalized HTC HD2.
Description by feherneoh
This is a NativeSD ROM
You can install it from recovery (You must have an ext partition)
You can find kernel in "BootHD2Gecko" folder on /sdcard
In case you are using cLK, use NativeSD-TWRP to install extracted kernel.
After the Firefox logo you will get black screen. It is normal. Just wait a minute, the GUI will appear.
This ROM can be installed together with any other as long as you have enough space on your EXT partition.
Installation requires ~180 MB space.
Things that does not work:
- Mobile network (SIM not detected, but STK apps are loaded, )
- Sound (When it works volume is sooooo low)
- Camera (Sometimes it works )
- Mass storage
Work in progress:
- Trying to solve SIM being not detected
- Aroma installer to be able to select keymap and installation type
- Keymaps
Get Firefox OS on your phone by visiting XDA Developers Forum.
