The Samsung Galaxy S4 is one of the hottest devices of 2013, but some new rebooting issues are reportedly marring the experience.
While the Samsung Galaxy S4 has yet to reach all intended markets and carriers, a lot of regions and carriers are already offering the handset to consumers. After previous reports on some issues with the screen, battery life or others, new complaints now surface regarding the smartphone's rebooting issues.
A couple of weeks ago, some owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4 started complaining about smearing issues and purple tints on the handset's touchscreen display. Now, it seems that some rebooting issues are affecting some users and will likely require a software update to patch things up. The Samsung Galaxy S4 rebooting issues are already a growing thread on the XDA Developers forum.
According to the thread, the new Samsung Galaxy flagship apparently has a glitch when some users launch the camera via the lockscreen widget, which results in the smartphone rebooting all of a sudden. Some users also mention that after the handset reboots, the problem doesn't appear again for a while.
"I have a weird 'bug' that has been occurring randomly," writes a user. "When I launch the camera using the lockscreen widget. App start, camera shows no image and bam, reboot. After they reboot, doing the same thing doesn't cause a reboot. Weird. Anyone else have this 'bug?'"
Others, meanwhile, note that the issue only emerged after the handset got a recent software update. Other users experience the same issue when launching the camera but from the Home screen rather than the lockscreen. Some users even suggest the root cause of this issue is excessive heat coming from just below the camera.
Other complaints regarding the new Samsung Galaxy S4 includes issues with the camera start up time, which some say is slow compared to other Android smartphones. Some Galaxy S4 owners also complained that the camera failed to respond when tapping the shutter button on the screen.
The rebooting issue seems to affect only a small proportion of users, at least for now. On the other hand, once the news spreads others might join the chorus and reveal similar issues. The good news is that it seems to be a software problem, which can usually get an easy fix via a future firmware update. Does your Samsung Galaxy S4 have any rebooting issues or other?
