Google's three-day annual developers' conference is starting Wednesday, May 15, and many eyes are on this event just to see the 'revolutionary' products going to be announced in these three days.
Many people are expecting a Nexus smartphone or tablet and a smartphone from Motorola, but there are rumors that Samsung is also set to release its smartphone during the conference.
Sounds very weird, but according to a report from a technology website Geek, Samsung is preparing to release its recently released Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone. However, this smartphone will be very different from the previously released Galaxy S4 handset.
The handset is said to be a complete 'Google Edition' of Samsung Galaxy S4.
The Galaxy S4 that is rumored to be released at the Google I/O is said to run a stock Android version that will come without manufacturer's version of user interface (UI) and preloaded applications from specific carriers.
There are many people who love to use stock Android and that's why the demand for Nexus devices are so high. However, if Samsung is really planning something like this, then the Google-Samsung partnership is once again going to lead the mobile market.
The report also says that the Google Edition of the Galaxy S4 is expected to be available in the market from June this year and T-Mobile will be the U.S. carrier to carry the first device with Samsung moniker running stock Android.
The pricing of the new version of the Galaxy S4 is not yet know and the sales strategy is also unknown.
Google might sell the new device through the Google Play store and Samsung would just provide Google with the units of the smartphone. Google adopted the same strategy with its Nexus devices when the smartphones and the tablets under the Nexus series were manufactured by Samsung and LG Electronics, but were not sold at any of the Samsung or LG stores.
The hardware specification of the new version of the Galaxy S4 will most probably be the same as the normal version, but it is also possible that the device gets released in either 16 or 32 GB version.
