Nokia has been making a big deal about the camera on its Windows Phone 8 devices since the Lumia 920. However, the option for hands-free photo taking was always missing. Furthermore, the Windows Phone Store did not have such an application lying around, so users were forced to make use whatever was available.
That is no longer the case, however, for there is a new app in the Windows Phone Store that allows for hands-free image taking. The app is called Intellicam, and it was developed by Outcoder, a company from Switzerland. With Intellicam, you can always be in the shot, gone are the days when all your photos only comprises of your family and friends without you in it, all because you have of play the role of camera-man.
We took the app for a spin, and we came away impressed, but not by much. You see, Intellicam does what it says it can do, voice recognition works, the ability to take multiple shots is there and it also has a nice face recognition feature. However, whenever an image is taken, there's an unfortunate watermark and we can't seem to understand why the developer chose to go this route.
With some Photoshop skill, watermarks can be removed, but not everyone wll want to fire up Photoshop and work magic.
App description:
Intellicam frees your hands and lets you include yourself in the photo.
Intellicam is the most innovative app of its kind, allowing you to take control of your phone's camera with only your voice, and using face recognition technology to focus on the people in your photo. So, no more blurry photos!
Intellicam integrates with the phone's built-in camera experience and allows you to take multiple shots without touching your phone. You will find yourself taking photos like you've never taken before!
Intellicam also includes "Auto-Snap", a feature that periodically takes a photo if it identifies a face in the view finder.
Download Intellicam from the Windows Phone Store free.
