The upcoming event of Microsoft which will be held on May 23 is intended to “show the world what’s next”. Shanghai is said to be the venue of this event. However, the company did not announce the precise location of where it will be happening.

Microsoft’s new choice of location, which is Shanghai brought some questions to the fans, especially that it was already known that the company used to launch its products in New York. Last October 2015, Microsoft launched the Surface Pro 4 in NYC and other previous devices of Surface. WCCTech reported that it maybe because of the restrictions put by China over foreign tech companies, this might please the authorities in the country.

A newly launched event page for this has not revealed any further details. It just posted the date, location, and a teaser that most likely the tech industry might be following the Microsoft’s lead, ZDNet reported. There were reports that the company is about to unveil the latest Surface hardware, presumably be called the Surface Pro 5. This was supported by the interview of Bloomberg to the vice president of Microsoft, Yusuf Mehdi.

He said that an update to Surface Pro 4 might be coming soon. This is confirmed also by Windows Central from Panos Panay, the corporate vice president of Microsoft devices and the one who leads the expanding lineup of Surface. Panay said that a new hardware is set to be unveiled but he did not elaborate what exactly it is. However, he twitted an announcement of the event using a #Surface. According to Paul Thurrott, a tech journalist, dramatic differences between the upcoming Surface 5 and its predecessor would not be expected.

Last month, Thurrott claimed that the Kaby Lake processor of Intel is the one that will be used on this new device, however, it will just hold on to its own power connector, The Verge said. Meanwhile, Microsoft is still enjoying its triumph after launching a Surface Laptop earlier this week. However, with the price of $999, this Windows 10 S powered laptop and can even upgrade to Windows 10 Pro is not likely that innovative but it carries with it a set of strong hardware specs and with Alcantara wrap on its body, it sure looks luxurious.
