The HTC Desire 600 smartphone is now official, as the company just announced the dual-SIM device with a quad-core processor.
The new HTC Desire 600 is the first mid-range smartphone to offer HTC's latest Sense 5 user interface (UI) and sports some neat specifications for its class.
The smartphone packs a Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and sports a 4.5-inch Super LCD2 display with a qHD resolution, i.e. 960 x 540 pixels. It has 8GB of internal storage and a 1,860 mAh battery. Other features include an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3-megapixel front shooter for video calls. HTC BlinkFeed and HTC BoomSound are also on board.
"People rely on their smartphones every day to be their news channel, email inbox, social network and music player," HTC CEO Peter Chou notes in the press release. "The HTC Desire 600 dual sim combines speed and easy multitasking with the truly innovative HTC BlinkFeed home screen. The result is an affordable mid-range phone that sets the standard for its class, keeping the busiest user up-to-date at a glance and offering them the power and range of features to switch between work and play."
Although the HTC Desire 600 is a mid-range handset, it borrows some of the high-end HTC One's features such as the aforementioned BoomSound speakers and BlinkFeed, as well as Beats Audio integration. According to the press release, the new smartphone runs on Google's Android Jelly Bean mobile operating system. While the announcement doesn't mention which version of Jelly Bean the phone will sport, but recent benchmarks list Android 4.1.2.
The HTC Desire 600 smartphone is set to become available at the beginning of June in Russia, Ukraine and the Middle East with mobile operators and major retailers. The company made no mention of the phone's availability in the rest of the world so far and did not disclose pricing details yet. Considering that it's a mid-range smartphone, however, the HTC Desire 600 should come with an affordable price tag. HTC will likely release more details on pricing and availability as the smartphone nears its launch.
